Current State Assessment

Step one is to get everyone on the same page about what is happening on the ground today. A common set of documented truths across the organization is an essential foundation for a systematic  transformation effort.

Future State Needs Assessment

What does the future need to look like? What needs to be true for the company to achieve its long term goals. At this stage it's important to let go of what people believe is possible and focus on what is actually required.

Gap Analysis

The Gap Analysis defines what needs to be true to realize the future state but currently isn't. 

Some of what needs to change to get from current to future state may be easy to define. For much of what needs to change, the path may not yet be clear. It may require a series of experiments to learn what will best work.

Implementation Planning and Execution

This phase documents the changes and experiments that need to take place in what order on a longer term calendar or "roadmap".

It considers budget, human capacity and other resource constraints to develop an executable plan that management, and the people that must do the work, believe in
